Through the process of merging School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, and Department of Aerospace Engineering since 2011, the school has reached the capacity of 200 students, 39 regular faculties, and grown as the center of Mechanical Engineering

*Educating the Future Professional Engineers
Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is closely connected with a wide range of studies and industries compared to other engineering fields. Such studies that are connected with are vehicle, aerospace, shipbuilding, machine tools which are connected with mechanical engineering as well as industries that are related to steel making, oil refining, construction, electronic appliances, and semiconductor. In order to understand, analyze, and provide the right solution for the processes of related fields, we will provide a modern mechanical engineering education with focus in the foundations of mathematics, physical science, engineering science. The curriculums are culminates with the courses with the senior design projects which will give students opportunities that can be immediately applied to nowadays-engineering fields. As a result, after graduate, students can actively be adopted to new working environment and produced excellent performance in variety of areas such as design, operations, and management and so on. Under the school’s curriculums and programs and using the professional knowledge gotten from the programs, students who will be attending the school of Mechanical Engineering in the University of Ulsan can make their own firm faith in career path and sincere voluntary spirit to contribute for the social and worldwide benefits for the world.

With this firmly stated school’s vision, and the country’s greatest industry estate, we will enter the Top-5 in comparative study and research & development area in next 5 years.

*Conducting Project for Top Ranking School of Mechanical Engineering Supported by Hyundai Heavy Industries
The School of Mechanical Engineering was chosen as a suitable academy performing “BK21 Project” which helped to promote local college by the Education Ministry for 7 years, worth 70 hundred million Korean Won. Also, we have been chosen as a representative university of regional university to strengthen innovative competence entrepreneurship which is called NURI and supported by the corporation of Hyundai Heavy Industries for 5 year worth to 80 hundred millions Korean Won. Since 2011, to go beyond as a top-class school, the school has gotten financial supports from the corporation of Hyundai Heavy Industries for 5 years, which will be total to 125 hundred millions Korean Won. From 2010, the School of Mechanical Engineering has been played a leading role in a national project named Education Center for Green Automotive Fusion Technology which is led by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and chosen as a leading academy to promote for regional economics and human resources with 156 hundred millions of financial supports in the project of Leaders in Industry-university Cooperation.
Educational objectives
The most important educational goals for mechanical and automotive engineering are to train capable technical individuals, who, through enhancing their knowledge of theoretical and applied mechanical automotive engineering, can gain hands-on experience in the industry and creatively solve problems.

1. Develop the ability to solve engineering problems using creative thinking
Engineers are educated in mathematics, basic sciences, and engineering in order to solve engineering problems. In addition, students are taught the ability to plan and execute experiments and then understand and analyze the collected data, which in turn bestows the ability to use creative thinking to standard engineering problems and then solve them.

2. Enhance on-site adaptability
Engineers must learn practical skills necessary for on-site work, such as the ability to use the latest engineering tools to design systems, components, and processes under numerous constraints, and efficiently carry out tasks related to the field within a multi-disciplinary team while effectively expressing one’s own opinion.

3. Foster fundamental ethics required of technical experts
In this age of globalization, engineers must learn how to obtain the minimum amount of decorum required completing one’s responsibilities and mission by understanding work ethics, engineering ethics, issues related to current affairs, and world cultures.
