The Department of Electric Engineering was established in March 1970 when the University was founded. Since then the Department has been separated into three departments of electric engineering, electronic engineering, and control and measurement engineering. In 2001 they were integrated into the School of Electric, Electronic, Information System Engineering. In 2011 it was reborn as the Department of Electric and Electronic Engineering since the Department of Computer Information Engineering and Biomedical Engineering merged into the Department of Electric Engineering. As of August 2012 there are 33 full time faculty and 898 undergraduate students.
Four tracks of major areas are available: control and automation, electric energy, semiconductor and VLSI, and communications and signal processing. Students can opt for their preferences while taking general courses. The courses offered are about control theories and methods, application of microprocessing, robot engineering, electric devices, power system, digital system, semiconductor starters and integrated circuits, communications theories, signal processing, computer hardware and programming.
The Department has been implementing a wide variety of scholarship programs to achieve higher standards of education.
