A study that understands problems of the modern society in the 21st century and seek solutions to them

Sociology and social welfare is a combined study of sociology and social welfare. The former attempts to explain about diverse phenomena of the modern society scientifically and systematically, while the latter helps every society member live happily maintaining human dignity. The curriculum consisting of a variety of theories in sociology and social welfare field, research and data analysis methods, practice techniques, welfare in each field, field work aims to find out the social problems that we have to solve through sound interests and right realization about humans and societies and search for realistic alternatives and ways to practice. Our department reflect the 21st century new trend representing globalization and information society in our curriculum so that students can be experts with practical knowledge and analytical ability about various social phenomena as well as fluency of foreign language and overseas experiences, and also can be creative human resources presenting the future vision.
Educational objectives
Acquiring basic knowledge about sociology and social welfare -Academic and occupational understanding of sociology and social welfare
-Understanding of communities and Korean society
-Understanding of globalization and sociocultural diversity
-Fluency in foreign languages
Recognition of social problems and suggestion of solutions -Capability of realization of social problems and explaining them
-Capability of seeking solutions to social problems and suggesting them
-Capability of reasonable comparison and evaluation about diverse alternatives
-Capability of adopting and applying similar or related social problems
Utilizing research methods and ability of data analysis -Understanding of quantitative and qualitative ways of research about sociology and social welfare related materials
-Practice of research and analysis of sociology and social welfare related materials.
-Understanding of basics of statistics
-Acquiring how to use Statistics software package(SPSS)
