Guideline for International Exchange Application

1.Types of Exchange Programme

Types of Exchange Programs
Type Details
Exchange
(Undergraduate/Postgraduate)
1. Duration: 1 semester or 1 academic year
2. Credit
- Undergraduate: Up to 18 credits per semester (Minimum 12 credits)
- Postgraduate: Up to 9 credits per semester (Minimum 6 credits)
3. Tuition: UOU tuition waived
Visiting
(Undergraduate/Postgraduate)
1. Duration: 1 semester or 1 academic year
2. Credit
- Undergraduate: Up to 18 credits a semester (Minimum 12 credits)
- Postgraduate: Up to 9 credits per semester (Minimum 6 credits)
3. Tuition: UOU tuition charged (Amount varies depending on the applying dept)
Dual Degree
(Undergraduate)
1. Duration: 2 academic years
2. Degree: UOU degree conferred
3. Credit: Up to 18 credits per semester (Minimum 12 credits)
4. Tuition: UOU tuition waived or charged (Depending on MOU with partner universities)

* For credits earned during the break, separate tuition is charged regardless of the exchange type.

1. Available Internship Positions
- Professional Internship: Corporate(Companies around Ulsan) intern, University intern, etc.
- Research Internship: Lab researcher (Postgraduate students only)
- Teaching Internship: Foreign language(English, Japanese, Chinese, etc.) tutor
2. Duration:
15 weeks(During the semester), 8 weeks(During the break)
* Only for research internship, 1 academic year is available.
3. Credit (‘Global Internship’ credit issued)
- Full-time Internship: 12 credits(15 weeks during the semester), 6 credits(8 weeks during the break)
- Part-time Internship: 4 credits(8 hours per week for 15 weeks during the semester)
* Part-time internship is only available for teaching positions.
* The credit is issued only to the undergraduate students. (Certificate is issued to the Postgraduate students as well)
4. Working Condition
a. Full-time Internship
- Professional & Research Internship: At least 35 hours per week
- Teaching Internship: At least 20 hours per week
b. Part-time Internship
- Teaching Internship: At least 8 hours per week
5. Salary: N/A
6. Qualification of Application
- Those who meet the Exchange programme eligibility (Refer to below ‘Eligibility’ section)
- Those who received an Invitation Letter issued by UOU academic advisor
* As the number of internship positions is limited for each semester, the final participants will be selected based on their resume, major, experience, GPA, etc. (The result will be released along with the application result / Highly competitive)

2. Those recommended by study abroad advisor of the home institution
* As each institution has limited number of recommendations, consult with home institution’s study abroad advisor for details.
Visiting
(Undergraduate/Postgraduate)
1. Any full-time students of a 4-year university or graduate school
* Foreign government(institution) sponsored students fall on this category.
* Consult with home institution’s study abroad advisor for details such as credit transfer, tuition, housing, insurance, etc.
Dual Degree
(Undergraduate)
1. Full-time students of the following UOU’s partner universities
- USA: Angelo State University
- Japan: Mejiro University
- China: Shandong Normal University
2. Those who already finished at least 2 semesters at the home institution
3. Those recommended by study abroad advisor of the home institution
* As each institution has limited number of recommendations, consult with home institution’s study abroad advisor for details.

3. Language Proficiency Qualification

* Applicants without the test score could still apply for the Exchange programme as long as the home institution guarantees that the applicant has enough language(Korean or English) ability for the study.

4. Application Procedure

2. Search for UOU’s curriculum, faculty, English-taught classes, etc.

Consult with UOU academic advisor(For Internship opportunity only) 1. Contact UOU academic advisor to discuss available internship positions and other conditions.
- For Professional & Teaching Internship: Academic advisor of UOU International
- For Research Internship: Any professors whose research area is in your interest
2. Receive an Invitation Letter from the UOU academic advisor (Mandatory)
Online Application 1. Visit UOU Global Homepage(International Admission System) and fill out the online
application (http://global.ulsan.ac.kr > Admissions > Exchange > Apply)
2. NO submission of original application documents required

[From overseas]: Overseas remittance of the fees to UOU International bank account on the bill.
[In Korea]: Pay the fees using the virtual account on the bill.
Issuance of Visa Documents Late Dec/Jun Sent to each applicant by post
* Only for those who finished the Enrollment
Visa Application Jan~Feb / Jul~Aug At overseas Korean Embassies or Consulate Generals
Move to Korea Late Feb / Aug Recommended Check-in dates are notified afterwards.
International Student Orientation Late Feb / Late Aug MANDATORY for all new students.
