2. Eligibility

Eligibility
Category Details
Nationality Requirement Anyone with foreign citizenship whose parents both also have foreign citizenship

* Applicants will NOT be considered eligible for admission if any of the following apply;
a) Korean citizens(including dual citizenship of applicant and both parents), or
b) Applicant or the parents obtained current non-Korean citizenship less than 3 years prior to the application documents submission deadline.

* Applicants with Taiwanese citizenship is eligible for admission even if one of their parents holds Korean citizenship.
Academic Requirement [2nd Year Transfer]
Anyone who has received or expects to receive an Associate Degree(with a major different from the applying major) from a 2~3 year college in 2 months after the beginning of 1st semester, or who has finished at least 2 semesters(excluding the break session) in a 4 year college
[3rd Year Transfer]
Anyone who has received or expects to receive an Associate Degree(with a major same as the applying major) from a 2~3 year college in 2 months after the beginning of 1st semester, or who has finished at least 4 semesters(excluding the break session) and earned half of the required credits for graduation in a 4 year college
Language Requirement [1st Group; Applicants applying for majors except for Arts & Sports]
a) TOPIK(Test of Proficiency in Korean) Level 3+,
b) Completion of Intensive Korean Level 3+ of UOU Korea Center, or
c) Over 70 points at UOU Korean Language Test
[2nd Group; Applicants applying for Arts & Sports majors / Foreign government-sponsored applicants]
a) TOPIK Level 2+
b) Completion of Intensive Korean Level 2+ of UOU Korea Center, or
c) Over 60 points at UOU Korean Language Test
[3rd Group; Applicants applying for English Track program]
a) TOEFL iBT 80+ (CBT 210+, PBT 550+), or
b) IELTS 5.5+
* Only nationals of the following countries are exempted from the above English language requirements; UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and South Africa
* Language certificates only issued within 2 years from the application documents submission deadline are accepted.
* UOU Korean Language Test is only available overseas.
* Admitted students without TOPIK Level 4+(3+ for 2nd Group) must receive TOPIK Level 4(3 for 2nd Group) or take ‘Practical Korean I & II’(only I for 2nd Group) before graduation.

* Available admission units could be different depending on the department condition. (Refer to each semester’s Admission Guideline for the exact information)
* Applicants could apply any majors regardless of their previous major on the college.
* For Nursing major, 3rd year transfer students may need to spend more than 2 years due to the major essential courses.
* As the Architecture major is a 5-year course, 3rd year transfer students need to study for 3 years after the transfer.

*1) Chinese and Cuban applicants should verify the Associate degree of a 2~3 year college or Certificate of Studentship of a 4-year college additionally through one of the following ways.

  • a. Apostille verification (Only in case the degree or certificate is issued by a college located in a country the Apostille verification is available)
  • b. Consul verification from the Korean Embassy(or Consulate General) where the college is located
  • c. Official report from the ‘CDGDC(China Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Development Center’ (www.cdgdc.edu.cn) along with a notarized Certificate of Studentship (Only in case the applicant is a student of a Chinese 4-year college)
  • d. Official report from the ‘CHSI(Chinese Higher education Student Information’(www.chsi.com.cn) along with a notarized Associate Degree (Only in case the applicant graduated from a Chinese 2~3 year college)

*2) Any official documents indicating parent-child relationship between the applicant and his/her parents
(Only can be exempted for Chinese applicants whose parents are recorded on the Household Register)

*3) Documents for Financial Status; Should meet one of the following two(2) criteria

  • a. Applicant’s bank statement indicating a minimum balance of USD 15,000 (the amount must have been deposited in the account for more than 6 months), or a certificate of exchange or remittance of USD 15,000 to Korea
  • b. Sponsor’s bank statement meeting the above conditions and sponsor’s Certificate of Financial Support(Downloadable from http://global.ulsan.ac.kr>Admissions>Overview>Forms & Downloads)

2) For Applicants in Korea (Those who have Alien Registration Card)

*1) Nationals of the 21 countries designated by Minister of Justice of Korea (China, Philippines, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Mongolia, Thailand, Pakistan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, Peru) or those who received an Associate Degree of a 2~3 year college or who is a student of a 4-year college located in these countries should verify the degree or certificate additionally through one of the following ways.

  • a. Apostille verification (Only in case the degree or certificate is issued by a college located in a country the Apostille verification is available)
  • b. Consul verification from the Korean Embassy(or Consulate General) where the college is located or from the Embassy of the country where the college is located in Korea
  • c. Official report from the ‘CDGDC(China Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Development Center’ (www.cdgdc.edu.cn) along with a notarized Certificate of Studentship (Only in case the applicant is a student of a Chinese 4-year college)
  • d. Official report from the ‘CHSI(Chinese Higher education Student Information’(www.chsi.com.cn) along with a notarized Associate degree (Only in case the applicant graduated from a Chinese 2~3 year college)

*2) Any official documents indicating parent-child relationship between the applicant and his/her parents

*3) Documents for Financial Status; Should meet one of the following two(2) criteria

  • a. Applicant’s bank statement indicating a minimum balance of KRW 15,000,000
  • b. Sponsor’s bank statement meeting the above conditions and sponsor’s Certificate of Financial Support(Downloadable from http://global.ulsan.ac.kr>Admissions>Overview>Forms & Downloads)

5. Important Notes

1) All application materials must be original.
2) Application must be completed in either Korean or English. Application must be typed, printed and signed. (Handwritten applications are not accepted)
3) Applicants who submitted the Certificate of Expected Graduation of a 2~3 year college at the time of application must submit an Associate Degree to UOU International in 2 months after the beginning of the semester. Otherwise, the admission will be revoked.
4) If admitted students fail to the registration, the admission will be revoked.
5) If an admitted student chooses to withdraw, the student must notify the university prior to the beginning of the semester to secure the full refund. No full refund will be available once the semester has commenced. (UOU Undergraduate Tuition Refund Policy is applied)
6) UOU will contact the applicant’s previous institution to verify the authenticity of the academic documents, and the verification must be received within 6 months. Applicants may be required to obtain an official verification in case UOU does not receive any verification. If the institution fails to verify authenticity of the applicant’s academic documents within 6 months, the admission will be revoked.
7) Before, during and after the admission, if there is a problem with the document authenticity, eligibility, exam cheating, etc., the admission will be revoked and the paid tuition will not be refunded.

6. Scholarship (Ulsan International Undergraduate Scholarship)

* The TOPIK criteria for the students on and after the 3rd semester in Korean Language for Foreigners major is Level 5.
* Entrance fee applies to all students. (Except for the Korean Government Scholarship Grantees)

2) Scholarship Condition

- The scholarship is applicable for up to 6 semesters for 2nd year transfer students and 4 semesters for 3rd year transfer students. (In case the graduation is delayed, the scholarship is not applicable from the 7th and 5th semester respectively)
- A student is not eligible for the scholarship if
a) one full year has not passed after a disciplinary action was taken against him/her,
b) Less than 12 credits earned at the previous semester(except for the last semester), or
c) he/she has already been given other scholarships exceeding the tuition fee of the semester (If the amount of the other scholarships is less than the tuition fee, the balance will be awarded to the student as a scholarship)

7. Additional Notes

1) If a student is accepted to more than 2 universities, he/she must select one university for registration. Simultaneous registration at more than one university may result in the revocation of admission to UOU.
2) Admitted students must take a medical check-up upon arrival at Ulsan. Detailed information will be provided afterwards.
3) Admitted students found to have contagious diseases that may jeopardise the health of others on campus will be asked to take a leave of absence until fully recovered.
4) All international students must have one of the following 2 health insurance plans during their study; a) National Health Insurance Service, b) University Insurance
